Prof. Devendra Awasthi is a distinguished economist with over 40 years of teaching and research experience. He served at LBS College (Gonda), St. Andrew’s College (Gorakhpur), and retired as Professor and Head, Department of Economics, VSSD College, Kanpur. His academic specialization is Urban Economics, and he has supervised 15 Ph.D. scholars and completed a UGC-sponsored Major Research Project on Solid Waste Management.
Prof. Awasthi has co-authored several economics textbooks and has actively participated in national seminars and conferences as a speaker, chairperson, and resource person since 1986. He has held key academic and administrative positions, including Dean, Faculty of Arts, CSJM University, Kanpur, and has been a member of several university and state-level advisory boards such as the UP Minimum Wages Advisory Board and the State Advisory Board on MSME.
He has served as Secretary & Treasurer of the Uttar Pradesh Economics Association and held various leadership roles in the Indian Economic Association, including Vice President north ,General Secretary, Joint Secretary (North), and Executive Member
